Tree Taming at Pitmedden

Tree taming time

On Saturday it was possible to believe that spring was on it’s way.  But living in the North East we know that February can often bring snow… so we’re not quite out of winter yet! However, it was a great day to do some tree taming of the large tree that had designs on taking over the driveway.  So first thing in the morning we gathered the tools, and we joined mid morning by members of our family! We had great fun whether it was chopping, cutting, clearing away, piling up the wood, and even the little people were able to get involved in all the activity.  Mid-morning snack outside with home baked scones helped to revive the workers and by lunchtime hot filled rolls and warm soup were just what were needed. We’re left with a tree that looks like its had a bad haircut… but I’m sure in a few weeks time it will be sprouting new shoots, and by this time next year we’ll be wishing we’d been more radical…. we’ll see.
