Walking in Glen Lui

Cairngorm Mountains from Glen Lui

Having worked through last weekend I was having a “Boxing Day”.  One of those days where you do exactly what you want with no responsibilities or expectations!!  Rare and wonderful!!!  Jim was able to have a day off work too so we went together. Glen Lui is about 6 miles west of Braemar and you walk from Linn of Dee.  At the head of Glen Lui is the start of the Lairig Ghru – a 19 mile walk up thorugh a mountain pass to Aviemore.  That one is for later in the summer but this walk was more about getting a day out of the office, and in the fresh air.  The walk to Derry Lodge takes about an hour and we picked a spot at the side of the trees to sit and have our picnic lunch.  Scamp (our cairn terrier) gets no human food as a rule, but she knows that when we’re out walking she gets a little share of what’s going – a real treat for her but well deserved.  Watch out in later months for the walk up through the Lairig Ghru.  And hopefully many more walks this summer.
