The last week has been dominated by snow across the country and it seems no one in the UK has managed to avoid it. Snow is greeted with joy by some and despair by others – probably related to age and planned activities.
So it was a delight this morning to wake to clear blue skies and the opportunity to get out without wellies, waterproofs and umbrellas. We decided to take a picnic (we can picnic any month of the year!) and head off to have a walk on the beach at Cruden Bay but we decided to stop at Forvie on route and walk up over the hill to the beach, and then come back round by the estuary.
How invigorating to be out walking in the fresh air and simply enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. We heard a curlew in the field before we had walked any distance and then saw a range of coastal birds, a later a number of seals in the bay. Most of the time however was spent playing with my camera and tripod and generally delighting in the days when you can take as many pictures as you like and then simply decide on the ones worthy of keeping in the warmth of a cosy room on a cold Saturday afternoon, eating up the last box of Christmas chocolates.
