If you have been in Aberdeen City recently you may have spotted some of these Wild Dolphin sculptures. The City is hosting the Wild Dolphins Project where 50 life size bottlenose dolphins are appearing all over the city. I spotted this one in Hazelhead Park last week and it is called “Bird Ballet”. It is designed by Allan Lawson and features a host of endangered birds which have been ornately painted all over the dolphin. The designs are fantastic and range from a rainbow dolphin to a spider dolphin. If you cannot manage to make it to Aberdeen to see the dolphins, you can also see them online at the following address: http://www.wilddolphins.org.uk/
The dolphins are going to be auctioned off at the end of the month to help raise money for the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC).
So why not get out and about and see if you can spot these wonderful sculptures in the city and if you are lucky, you may even see the real ones swimming along the North East Coast! If you don’t live in the area come for a holiday and take a drive to some of the places they are commonly seen.
