Much of northern Europe, including the UK, will be plunged into darkness on Friday morning for a few minutes as the moon travels between the sun. Here in Scotland, we are expected to have a partial eclipse with nearly 95% of the sunlight blocked out by the moon. It is expected to start round about 8.45am. The last total eclipse that the UK had was back in 1999 and the next partial one is not expected until 2026!
It is quite a rare event to see – remember to be careful though and not look directly at the sun – I will be watching it on TV with a nice cup of coffee!
