At the start of June, my grand-daughters gave me 2 tiny sunflowers for my garden. Unfortunately, something had a good munch on one of them when we were away on holiday and it did not survive! This one did and it is hard to believe that it is still flowering as we head into November! The exceptionally mild weather, along with the nice sunshine that we had throughout the start of the month has certainly helped.
Sunflowers are extremely fast growing plants and The Guinness World Record for the tallest sunflower is 8.23m (27ft)! My little sunflower has not quite managed to get to those heights but it has certainly been a lovely sight in the garden.
I am not too sure how long it will last – as I look out the window, it has started to rain and the wind is blowing. But for now, I will continue to admire it.
Life is certainly full of surprises!
