This wonderful view was taken when we visited Newtonhill. The village is only about 9 miles South of Aberdeen and was traditionally a fishing village which was called Skateraw. The name changed to Newtonhill as there was a railway station in the village but this closed back in 1956.
The day we visited, we drove right down Skateraw Road, which is the oldest street in the village, and found some car parking at the end of the road. We also managed to spot the Old Smokehouse on the right hand side on the way down. It has not been used for many years though. We took a walk out to explore and take in the view – it was just lovely!
We are so lucky to have so many beautiful towns and villages on our doorstep and it is just great to get out and visit them and learn about the history of these places!
